No longer a WIP!  Editors at a small publishing company in a west coast state have read the first three chapters of Storm Surge and requested the entire manuscript! Wow! A pdf version has been sent to them via e-mail. Godspeed, Justin and Briana!
Briana was sent under-cover to bring down a crook. But how can a criminal be a man of such high principles and virtue?

Currently, all my WIPs are in the early stages of planning and writing except Wesley's Women.  It is still in the idea stage, and whether it sees completion depends on what happens in Sweet Southern Boys and Little Sister.  The former is about 75% complete, the latter about 35%.

About the covers.  Several years ago, I read that creating covers for works in progress will make the book/novel seem acheivable, the goal more real.  This particularly helps during spells of writer's block.  So I tried it, and liked it!  These covers help me visualize the end result -- and keep plugging away!  If you're a writer, try it!

Southern Heroes Series
Three very different stories, but they have one thing in common.  The leading men are true Southern heroes.  Tough, sweet, loving men ... men of principle, men courage ... men of passion.
On her way to help at a friend's bed and breakfast, Leslie Hoffman encounters violent weather, flooding and terrifying creatures that run her SUV off the road. But can her rescuer, handsome Julian Walraven, be trusted? When professional quarterback Dan Rawson shows up at Lake Lucy Campground, Georgia girl Cassie Windham and son Julian are enthralled.  But how long will he stay? What will a man risk for the wellbeing of his children?  If the man is Catlin Ross, everything, including his life. They forced her to choose between her family and her baby.  Caroline chose her son. But will the new man in her life accept them both?

From Wrong Turn
"I'm going to take a shotgun out of my gun cabinet.  I don't think anything can get in, but I'm not taking any chances. The level of fear that thing causes...just from looking at it...it's not natural or logical."
--Julian Walraven to Leslie Hoffman
From The Whirlwind
"Hi. My name's Daniel. I just got here for the weekend when your son came by my cabin looking for his dog. I'll be glad to help him hunt for Pepper, if it's all right with you."
"Oh, my goodness." She put a hand to her cheek as recognition dawned. "You're Dan Rawson. Steelers quarterback!"

From Catlin
"Good lord, those are burns! Nobody should have to put up with that. When are you going to leave her?"
"The day I'm ready to never see my children again."
"Catman, she's crazy and dangerous. You could get custody--"
   "Not on this planet."
~Conversation between
Wayne McFarland and
Catlin Ross
From Jeremy's Blessing
"I've changed my mind. I'm not going to give the baby up for adoption. I've given it a lot of thought and it is my decision to make."
"What! Caroline, you haven't changed your mind! You've lost it!"
"Mother, don't fight me about this. Don't make me have to choose...."

The Georgia Tetralogy

The series revolves around four families--The Stevensons, Kincaids, Jordans and Bratchers--living in Verona, Georgia, a small town on the state's coastal plain, in the latter decades of the 20th century.  The stories feature the clash between elements of traditional Southern culture--family love, Christian faith and individual responsibility--with the forces of change.
The adventures of best friends Shelby Kincaid, Randy Stevenson and John Mark Jordan, growing up in small- town Georgia.  It isn't always Big Brother who's watching. Sometimes it's Little Sister.  Ainsley Kincaid is watching out for her bubba, Shelby.  Who does a man turn to when his life has been all for nothing? Can the love of one woman save him from destruction by another?

From Sweet Southern Boys
"My daddy thinks our friendship is a gift from God. I don't know if I believe that. Did the Entity who created the entire universe look down on Earth, on the Western Hemisphere, on the North American continent, on the southern part of Georgia, and pick three little boys out of billions of people and purposely bestow this blessing on us?"
~John Mark Jordan
to Shelby and Randy
From Little Sister
"All my life, you three took care of me, played with me, paid attention to me, did things for me, bought me things, made me laugh ...   As far back as I can remember, you were there, around me, all the time.  And then, all of a sudden, all three of you were just ... gone.  You left me all by myself."
~Ainsley Kincaid
to Shelby, Randy
and John Mark
From Wesley's Women
"You're going to have to forgive your mother.  If your life is ever going to be worth living, you have to forgive her.  She didn't raise you the way she did out of malice or indifference.  She just made mistakes.  For your own sake, your own future, you must forgive her."
~Todd Bratcher
to his son, Wesley
